Gather your ID and proof of ownership, find your VIN, and call a mobile locksmith. They can usually make and program a new key right where your car is parked.
Gather documents
- Photo ID
- Registration or title
- VIN (on the dashboard or door jamb)
How a new key is made
The locksmith cuts a key by code or by decoding the lock, then programs the chip or remote to your car's immobilizer.
After you have a new key
Make a spare right away. It's the simplest way to avoid this happening again.
